How Park Pacific Apartments was built
Three hundred and five homes on seventeen acres, the largest apartment footprint on this stretch of Warner Avenue. Its internal lanes are San Bruno, San Mateo and La Hacienda, which is the Spanish for the ranch house, and they belong to the same run of northern California and Spanish names a builder laid through this part of Warner in the early 1970s, shared with the Crystal Springs buildings next door.
Talbert took the name Fountain Valley when it incorporated in 1957, after the artesian water that would rise from a driven pipe. The new council refused to approve any tract until the master plan was complete, the first houses broke ground in 1962, and by 1970 the population was close to 32,000. Large apartment communities on the arterials are how a town that size housed people that fast.
