How Rancho Alisal Apartments was built
Rancho Alisal stands on Parkcenter Lane, on the Tustin Ranch side of the city, three hundred and fifty odd homes on twenty four acres, built in the Spanish register the whole neighborhood was designed around.
It belongs to a family of apartment communities raised across Tustin Ranch under the Irvine Company's plan and given Spanish ranch names: Alisal, Maderas, Mariposa, Monterey, Santa Fe, Tierra and Veracruz. Alisal means a stand of alder or sycamore. The naming was consistent because the developer was, and because the ground really had been a ranch.
