            History

            How Raintree was built

This is 566 homes on thirty-five acres, almost every one of them addressed by unit number, with the city's record putting construction around 1979. That density is unusual for Brea and it makes Raintree one of the largest single residential communities in the city by household count. Tamarack Park, at 520 North Tamarack Avenue, runs to 5.6 acres beside it.

A sculpture called Brea of Olde by Jeff Morse stands inside the boundary, one of more than 140 works in a collection the city began building in 1975 by requiring the developer of each project to commission a permanent outdoor piece. The city's tree inventory counts seventy trees here, most of them American sweetgum. All thirty-five acres lie inside the liquefaction zone the city maps across the valley floor, which is a soils question worth putting to an inspector.
