Overview
About Belsomet
Belsomet covers 144.5 acres on the eastern ridge of Anaheim Hills, laid out on nineteen streets over 2.3 miles: Bluevista, Bramble, Bridgewood, Canyon Creek, Canyon Garden, Canyon Mist, Country Hill, Dove Tree, Edgeview, Endemont, Heatherglen, Hidden Creek, Hollow Oak, Lockmont, Lost Canyon, Rock Garden, Rockvale, Rosecrest and Skyridge. The city records 245 addresses on 223 parcels, 217 of them detached single family and six held as association common area, with a median lot of 13,650 square feet. The general plan gives 97.5 acres the Residential Estate designation at up to 1.5 homes to the acre.
Deer Canyon Park, a 133.5-acre natural park, has 28 percent of its area inside this boundary, and the city's zoning layer accounts for the same ground as 37.8 acres of Public Recreational. One hundred and twenty-seven of the 223 parcels carry a pool on the assessor record, a little over half. The houses measure a median 3,410 square feet of ground floor on the city's footprint layer. The boundary falls wholly in ZIP 92808 and in flood zone X. Belsomet sits in Orange Unified School District and feeds Canyon High.

How Belsomet was built
The cattle stayed a long time. Louis E. Nohl took a deed to the Bixby holdings in the Santa Ana Canyon on 6 October 1943 and ran 1,100 head of cattle across roughly 5,800 acres, with avocados and a small block of oranges. That ranch became Anaheim Hills after 1970, and the eastern canyons like this one were the last part of it to be built. The houses here went up mostly between 1990 and the late 1990s, two decades after the first Anaheim Hills homes.
What makes the place is what was left alone. Deer Canyon Park Preserve, 103 acres of hiking and riding trails, opens straight off Hollow Oak Road and a large share of it falls inside this boundary, so the wild canyon is not a view from a distance but the end of the street. The names follow the same idea. Hollow Oak, Lost Canyon, Canyon Mist, Skyridge, Rockvale and Dove Tree describe the ground rather than a theme borrowed from somewhere else.
