How Royal Ridge was built
Royal Ridge takes its street names off an English map. Ramsgate is a Kent harbor town on the Channel, Hillsgate and Whitestone follow the same pattern, and Royal Ridge Drive gives the community its name. Via Arboles, the way of the trees, is the one Spanish street and it runs through from the Broadmoor-Northridge tract next door.
Royal Ridge is one of the last neighborhoods built in the Anaheim Hills program. Its sixty five houses date from 1989 through 2002, with 1990 the median year, on lots of about twenty four thousand square feet, which is better than half an acre and roughly four times a standard lot on the flats. Eighteen of them have a pool. By the time these went up, the community had long since passed fifteen thousand residents and close to a thousand acres of the surrounding hills had been handed to public agencies to stay open.
