            About Shadow Run

Shadow Run covers 52.6 acres off Avenida Margarita, on eight streets over 1.5 miles: Honeywood, Quail Ridge, Royal Oak, Silverbrook, Smokeridge, Suncrest and Tablerock. The city records 147 addresses on 141 parcels, 140 of them detached single family and one held as common ground, with a median lot of 11,222 square feet. The general plan designates 49.8 acres Residential Low and a further 2.8 acres Parks.

Pelanconi Park, a 20.3-acre natural park, has 13 percent of its area inside the boundary, matching the 2.6 acres zoned Public Recreational here. The city's footprint layer measures the houses at a median 2,703 square feet of ground floor and reads 84 as two-story against 56 single-story. The boundary lies wholly in ZIP 92807 and in flood zone X, and it sits in Orange Unified School District.

            History

            How Shadow Run was built

Avenida Margarita runs through Shadow Run, and at 222 South Avenida Margarita sits Pelanconi Park, twenty seven acres of canyon that opened in 1975 and carries the names of Lorenzo and Martina Yorba Pelanconi, early landowners here. Martina was a Yorba, and that surname is the thread back to the beginning of this ground.

Anaheim Hills itself began on 30 October 1970, when Santa Anita Consolidated took deed to 4,200 acres of the Nohl Ranch to build a planned community, and a Texaco Ventures joint venture took over the residential land in August 1971. The first neighborhood, Westridge, opened in July 1972, and the city bought a separate 300 acres for a golf course that Richard Bigler laid out and that opened the same year. Shadow Run is among the earlier neighborhoods, with houses dated from 1967 through 1980 and 1977 the median year, so a handful here predate the planned community entirely. The rest of the street names describe the hillside as it was found: Quail Ridge, Royal Oak, Silverbrook, Smokeridge, Suncrest, Honeywood and Tablerock. Eighty one of the hundred and forty seven homes have a pool, on lots of around eleven thousand square feet.
