Overview
About View Pointe
View Pointe covers 69 acres off Serrano Avenue on the Anaheim Hills ridge, on ten streets over 1.5 miles: Brightstar, Daybreak, Desert Pine, Dewcrest, Reservoir, Rising Sun, Sandstone and Sundance among them. The assessor records 20 parcels inside the boundary, seventeen single family and two held as common ground, with a median parcel of 19,122 square feet, and the city's address layer records 267 addresses against them, so most of the housing here shares its ground.
The general plan splits the boundary almost evenly, 33.9 acres Residential Low and 32.8 acres Open Space, so nearly half the community is slope. All 67 zoned acres fall under the Highlands at Anaheim Hills Specific Plan. The city's footprint layer measures 60 buildings inside the boundary, 38 of them dwellings and 20 detached garages. Addresses here fall in both ZIP 92808 and 92807, and View Pointe sits in Orange Unified School District.

How View Pointe was built
View Pointe was built in a single year, 1989, on the ridge above the Santa Ana Canyon. The land is part of Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, granted to Jose Antonio Yorba and his nephew Juan Pablo Peralta in July 1810, and it stayed cattle country for a very long time afterward, first under the Bixby family and then under Louis E. Nohl, who took the deed on 6 October 1943 and ran 1,100 head across roughly 5,800 acres.
There is a reason a street here is called Reservoir. Anaheim built a 920 million gallon reservoir and filtration plant in the Nohl Ranch hills in April 1970, months before 4,200 acres of the ranch were deeded away to start the Anaheim Hills planned community that October. Water came first. Without the reservoir there was no way to put houses on ground this high, and the neighborhoods followed the pipe.
