How Tree Tract was built
Tree Tract went up in two eras a generation apart. Seven maps were filed between March 1955 and May 1957, carrying 580 of the lots the city records inside this boundary, and four more filed between 1983 and October 1984 added 144 on the ground that was left. The county assessor matches the split almost exactly: 588 homes dated to the 1950s and 149 to the 1980s, so most of the neighborhood is postwar and the rest arrived three decades later.
One of the sixteen sites on the City of Buena Park's own historic register stands inside this boundary, the George Trapp House at 8352 Crescent Avenue, built by the pioneer farmer George Trapp. The city records that the house was modified in the early 1980s but that the original rock porch is still there. The streets that went in around it were named for trees, twenty five of the thirty one, running from mountain species like Joshua, Pinyon and Tamarack to an orchard of Lemon, Lime, Cherry, Guava, Mango and Mulberry.
