How Casa del Vista was built
Casa del Vista was built in 1974 and 1975 as townhouses, 81 addresses on 10.5 acres near the edge of the Cal State Fullerton campus. The homes are tri-level, which was a common answer in the mid 1970s to building family-sized floor plans on small ground, and they run larger than the condominium stock of the same period at close to two thousand square feet.
All three of its streets are the same phrase with the ending changed: Vista del Oro, Vista del Sol and Vista del Rosa, the view of gold, of sun and of rose. It is the least imaginative naming scheme in the city and also the most honest, since the ground does rise here and the views are the reason the site was built on at all.
