How Foothill Townhomes was built
Cameo Lane runs along the Placentia line in east Fullerton, on ground that was orange grove within living memory. The state legislature authorized Orange County State College in 1957, a site in northeast Fullerton was designated the following year, and the property, former citrus groves, was purchased in 1959. The campus that grew out of that purchase is now Cal State Fullerton and covers 236 acres, and it is about two thirds of a mile from these front doors.
The townhomes here were built in 1964, when the college was five years old and the groves around it were being sold off for housing. There are just over a hundred attached two story units, most of them around 1,200 square feet with two bedrooms, and the end units carry more light and fewer shared walls than the rest. The city's association layer lists the place as Foothill Townhomes, while the association itself and nearly every listing call it Foothill Village, so a buyer will meet both names for the same set of buildings.
