How Casa de Laguna was built
Casa de Laguna went up on the northern edge of town above Veeh Ranch Park, with construction years on file running from 1977 to 1991 and a middle year of 1981. All of it was built under county jurisdiction: Laguna Hills incorporated on 20 December 1991, and North Laguna Hills, where the city files this community, came into the city on 1 July 1996. It sits directly across from Laguna Village, which was laid out on the same naming system.
That system is the caminito, the Spanish diminutive for a little path, and it runs through both communities as a signature. Here it produces Caminito Casa, Caminito Mundo and Caminito Olivia, with Mill Creek and Santa Vittoria at the edges. The result is 226 attached homes on about fifty three acres, ungated, arranged in clusters off walkways rather than along conventional through streets, which is exactly what the naming was meant to signal.
