How Camden Court was built
Camden Court has one of the smallest typical lots in Laguna Niguel, a median of 0.052 acres, which is what happens when 189 homes are fitted onto seventeen acres and three streets: Sutton Lane, Camden Court and Stratton Lane. It was built in 1986, and the city's record shows the work running through 1990, with 62 of its dated homes finished in 1989.
The Moulton and Daguerre families divided the ranch in 1951, and in 1959 the Laguna Niguel Corporation formed to develop the Daguerre land and commissioned Viennese architect Victor Gruen, the man who had designed the country's first enclosed shopping mall three years earlier, to plan a town of 7,100 acres with close to a third of the developable land in parks and open space. AVCO Community Developers took the corporation over in 1971, and Camden Court belongs to the building wave that followed, with Niguel Ranch Homeowner Association as its master.
