About Niguel Ridge
Niguel Ridge covers 57 acres and holds 200 addresses on 206 parcels, at a median lot of 0.119 acres. Only five streets run inside the boundary, 1.26 miles between them, and four of them share a theme: Kings View, Crown Ridge, Crown Creek and Pointe Royale, with Castle Road completing it. The city's zoning layer splits the ground almost evenly, 24.8 acres to open space and 23.7 acres to Single Family District 3.
The flood layer is what sets this boundary apart. The city places 5 acres of Niguel Ridge in zone AE and a further 0.4 acres in the 0.2 percent annual chance flood hazard area, alongside 51.6 acres in zone X. No other community boundary in Laguna Niguel carries as much mapped flood hazard. The ground is low, from 254 feet to 361 feet, and drains to Aliso Creek. The 2025 fire hazard layer rates 52.5 acres Moderate and 28 acres High, and short runs of the Niguel Trail and the Salt Creek Trail cross the boundary.

How Niguel Ridge was built
The Niguel in the name is the oldest word in the city. It comes from Niguili, an Acjachemen village believed to have stood near Aliso Creek, which gave its name to Rancho Niguel when Governor Juan B. Alvarado granted 13,316 acres of the San Joaquin Hills to Juan Avila in 1842. Laguna, the other half of the city's name, refers to the tidal lagoon at the mouth of that same creek.
Niguel Ridge is 200 homes on 57 acres, and the city's record puts its years built between 1988 and 2000 with a median of 1988, 118 homes in that first year. Only five streets run inside it and four share a theme, Kings View, Crown Ridge, Crown Creek and Pointe Royale, with Castle Road completing the set. It carries more mapped flood hazard than any other community boundary in the city, five acres in zone AE, and the ground is low, from 254 feet to 361 feet, draining to Aliso Creek.
