How Pacific Hills East was built
Pacific Hills East is the small pocket the City of Mission Viejo carves out along Cantata Drive, a single cul-de-sac street on top of a hill at the eastern edge of the larger Pacific Hills tract. Public building records for homes on the street put construction in the early 1990s: 7 Cantata Drive was built in 1993, and neighboring houses on the same block date to 1991, placing this small run of homes inside the same wave of construction that filled out Pacific Hills between 1990 and 1997.
That wave worked the last hilly, undeveloped ground in this part of the city. The Cantata Drive homes carry the same Mediterranean treatment used across the larger tract, stucco walls and red tile roofs on a cul-de-sac laid out to follow the hillside rather than cut through it, which is why the street still reads as a quiet, self-contained corner even though it sits inside the much larger Pacific Hills tract, which records 602 addresses to the 76 on Cantata Drive.
