How Newport Ridge Vistas was built
Building here was made possible by the 1988 agreement that protected more than 6,000 acres of continuous open space and allowed 1,600 acres to be developed. Vistas was built between 1995 and 1998, in the middle of the Newport Ridge sequence. The San Joaquin Hills toll road opened in November 1996 with its own Newport Coast Drive exit while these homes were going up, and the road is the reason a neighborhood this far up the hill works as a commute.
Three street names, all French, all doing different jobs. Chandon carries most of the addresses and shares its name with the Champagne house. Saint Pierre is the commonest saint's name in France. Beaulieu simply means beautiful place, which is the sort of name a developer picks when the view has already made the argument.
