How Brisa Del Lago II was built
Brisa del Lago II is the second half of the lake breeze idea, built in the same first push as its neighbor in the mid to late 1980s, when Rancho Santa Margarita was only just becoming a place. The city's own history is blunt about how recent all of this is: the plain stayed fairly remote until 1986, when the first homes in the master planned community were sold. Before that it was the O'Neill cattle ranch, and before that the Acjachemen village of Alume stood between Trabuco Creek and Tijeras Creek.
Where the first Brisa del Lago took its street names from water birds, the second took them from a seed catalog. Lobelia, Celosia, Dianthus, Aubrieta, Linaria and Primula are all garden flowers, listed by their botanical names rather than their common ones, which is an unusually bookish choice for a 1980s condominium village. The association is one of the SAMLARC sub associations, so the lake the place is named after, and its Beach Club, come with the address.
