            History

            How Walden was built

Walden is the pond in Concord, Massachusetts that Henry David Thoreau spent two years beside and then wrote a book about. This Walden has a pond of its own, and gives its streets to birds and flowering plants: Bluejay, Partridge, Turtledove, Magpie, Hummingbird, Weeping Willow and Honeysuckle. The Spanish names are Via del Lago, the road of the lake, and Las Amigas Drive at the entrance. A Hemingway Court sits just outside the gate, so the literary naming was not an accident of one street sign.

There are 114 homes behind the gate on forty two acres, most of them finished in 1994 and 1995, with more than a quarter of the ground held as open space. Walden Park runs to almost five acres and carries a clubhouse, a pool, a spa and hiking trails.
