            Overview

            About Connemara I

Connemara I covers 91.31 acres, the tenth largest boundary on the city's homeowner association register, and only 86 addresses sit on it. Twelve of the fourteen streets the address layer names inside the boundary are Irish, Blessington, Brandon, Connemara, Donegal, Dungarvin, Glocamora, Kildare, Killarney, Kinkerry, Limerick, Rosscommon and Shannon, and the other two are the Spanish arterials the community is entered from, Camino Las Ramblas and Avenida Pescador. Of the 2.35 miles of street inside the boundary, 1.88 miles are on the city's Private Roads layer and the rest is public. Acu Canyon Park accounts for 17.23 acres of city owned land inside the boundary, and the zoning layer carries 17.1 acres as Neighborhood Park District alongside 64.1 acres of Single-Family-10,000 and 9.0 acres of General Open Space.

Four interior points were tested against the Capistrano Unified locator and all four returned the same three campuses, and the middle school is not the one most of the city attends. Palisades Elementary takes TK through fifth grade with 332 students, 58 percent meeting the state standard in English language arts and 57 percent in mathematics, and it feeds Shorecliffs Middle School in San Clemente, which enrolls 634. San Juan Hills High School enrolls 2,641 and graduated 96.2 percent of its class. The whole boundary carries an elevated fire hazard rating, 53.2 acres in the High class and 38.1 acres in Very High.

            History

            How Connemara I was built

Connemara is a region on the west coast of Ireland, and its neighbors here are Donegal Lane, Blessington Lane and Brandon Lane. The Irish names on a south-facing slope above the sea in a Spanish mission town are a nod to the family that ended up owning most of south Orange County. When Don Juan Forster died in 1882 his family sold the ranch to James Flood, who made the Irish immigrant Richard O'Neill Sr his manager and then his equal partner, and the O'Neills have held the land ever since. About 23,000 acres are still in family hands.

Tract No. 9784 was recorded on 21 January 1981 in the name of Longbar Grinding Inc., and building started in 1984 on Camino Las Ramblas, the road that climbs the coastal hills between San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point. The homes sit on large lots with ocean views.
