Stonehaven

Stonehaven covers 282 acres in one piece and holds 499 addresses on 370 parcels, at a median lot of 0.401 acres, with 124 of the addresses carrying a unit designator. Zoning runs 235.2 acres Planned Development, 39.4 acres Residential Estate and 8.5 acres Commercial General, with 239 parcels in the city's planned development district 14 and 55 in district 13. Twenty-five named streets run 5.07 miles inside the boundary and only one centerline segment is recorded private. Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified serves the whole polygon through the Travis Ranch elementary and middle areas and Yorba Linda High.

The names are Scottish almost without exception: Aviemore Drive, Allonby Circle, Balantree Circle, Deveron Cove, Dunrobin Way, Heatheridge Drive, Heatherwood Lane, Rockhampton Court, Stirlingbridge Circle, Stonehaven Drive, Sutherland Drive and Thistledown Circle, with a short run of Via del names along the southern edge. The oil field is still mapped beneath them: the state field boundary layer places 96.4 acres of this polygon inside the Esperanza field and 22.3 acres inside the abandoned Kraemer Northeast field, and the city flags 192 addresses as sitting over one of them. The 2025 fire hazard severity layer rates 222.9 acres Very High, all 499 addresses are flagged high fire severity, and the state landslide zone layer covers 95.5 acres.

Stonehaven takes its name from the harbor town on the Aberdeenshire coast, and the streets keep traveling north from there. Aviemore Drive sits in the Cairngorms, Dunrobin Way and Sutherland Drive take a castle and a county in the Scottish Highlands, Balantree Circle is on the Ayrshire coast, Deveron Cove takes a Scottish river and Stirlingbridge Circle recalls the battle fought at Stirling Bridge in 1297. Cardiff Drive, Waterford Road, Devonport Circle, Brisbane Way and Rockhampton Court widen the reach to Wales, Ireland, England and Australia, and Thistledown Circle, Heatheridge Drive and Heatherwood Lane finish the picture with the plants.

The other half of the map is pure vaquero. Via de la Espuela is the way of the spur. Via de la Reata is the way of the reata, the braided rawhide rope the California vaqueros threw, and the word the English lariat comes from. Via del Corral, Via del Puente the bridge, Via de la Roca the rock, Via del Agua the water and Via del Cerro the hill complete a working ranch vocabulary sitting on the same hillside as the Scottish castles.
