            History

            How Glenwood Village was built

Thirteen streets and almost all of them end in wood or oak: Ashwood, Baywood, Brentwood, Elmbrook, Glenoaks, Hillrose, Kerrwood, Pineoak, Rainwood, Stoneglen, Summerwood, Whitewood and Wildwood. Two hundred homes on 13.9 acres, which makes this one of the tightest built pieces of the Glenwood village.

It is also one of the earliest. It was built in 1987, ahead of most of the Glenwood neighborhoods around it, which went up through the late 1980s and the 1990s as the village filled in around what became the Aliso Viejo Country Club. The club's twenty seven hole course, laid out by Jack Nicklaus and his son, did not open until 1999, so the first residents here bought their homes on ground that was still open.

            FAQs

Only seven of the fifty Aliso Viejo communities on this site carry an earlier first map. A recorded map dates the subdivision rather than the buildings on it.
