            History

            How Laurelmont was built

Laurelmont was built in 1985, which puts it in the first handful of years of Aliso Viejo's existence. The city's first homes were offered for sale in March 1982 and the first residents moved in that November, so the 197 homes here went up while most of the surrounding hills were still empty. The style is Cape Cod, the plans have yards, and the three streets are Pepperwood, Primrose and Willowood.

The Mission Viejo Company bought the last 6,600 acres in 1976 and the county approved a master plan in 1979 that gave 2,600 acres to the county for the wilderness park and set aside another 800 for parks and schools. Laurelmont sits on 21 acres of what remained, near the Aliso Viejo Town Center.
