How Peralta Hills East was built
Peralta Hills is older than Anaheim Hills around it. There were scattered houses up here as early as the 1920s, decades before Louis Nohl sold his cattle range and the planned community began. When the tracts started coming, residents organized through the Peralta Hills Estates Improvement Association and fought for a one acre minimum lot, which is why the properties here run one to two acres and more while a standard Anaheim Hills lot is six to eight thousand square feet. Roland Krueger, Clyde Schlund and James Nagamatsu were among the homeowners who worked with the city to hold that line, and Nagamatsu went as far as having his attorney file incorporation papers for Peralta Hills.
The result is that Peralta Hills East has one street, Copa de Oro, and forty eight houses on it. Copa de Oro means cup of gold. Thirty three of those homes have a pool and the typical property runs about four fifths of an acre. The building record here spans a century, from 1900 through 2002, because these were custom houses put up one at a time rather than a tract delivered in a season.
