How Craig Park was built
Ted Craig won a seat on the Brea city council in 1928 and a seat in the State Assembly the same year, and he was still mayor of Brea when he served as Speaker of the Assembly from 1935 to 1936, an office that seated him as a regent of the University of California. Orange County put his name on the regional park between Imperial Highway and State College Boulevard and completed it in 1974, five years before he died.
The 63 townhomes on Craig Circle and Park Vista Court were all built in 1974, the year the park was completed, on two cul de sacs off Associated Road. They back straight onto the 124 acres of lawn, ponds and bridges, which is what Park Vista Court is named for. They were also early. Most of the East Coyote Hills around them did not fill in with housing until the 1980s and 1990s.
