How Crystal Cay was built
The streets here all look to the Caribbean: Pearl, Grenada Street, Largo Street, Martinique Street and Aruba. The community was built in 1983 in the part of the city the local trade calls Sea Country, walking distance from the Marina Hills shopping center, and it names Laguna Heights Homeowner Association as its master, alongside Palm Court.
The Moulton and Daguerre families divided the ranch in 1951, and the Daguerre share went in 1959 to the Laguna Niguel Corporation, which had Victor Gruen draw a town plan of 7,100 acres. AVCO Community Developers bought the corporation in 1971 and carried the building through the decades in which Crystal Cay went up. Three hundred and three addresses sit on eighteen level acres here at 570 feet, with two pools, spas and volleyball courts on the association's record.
