In 1959 the Laguna Niguel Corporation bought the Daguerre share and hired the Viennese architect Victor Gruen, who had opened the country's first enclosed shopping mall three years earlier, to plan a town of 7,100 acres. AVCO Community Developers took the corporation over in 1971. Palm Court names Laguna Heights Homeowner Association as its master, alongside Crystal Cay and Niguel Pointe.
