How Rancho Niguel Sub Association III was built
Rancho Niguel was a real ranch, and the name attached to this association is the name of the Mexican land grant it sits on. Governor Juan B. Alvarado granted those 13,316 acres to Juan Avila in 1842, calling them after Niguili, an Acjachemen village believed to have stood near Aliso Creek, and the grant ran from Laguna Canyon past the creek toward Dana Point and San Juan Creek.
This piece was built in the 1980s. The city's record runs its years from 1983 to 1995 with a median of 1989, and 120 of its 179 dated homes carry 1989, so two thirds of the community was finished in one year. Seven streets serve 177 homes on 38 acres and most are Spanish: Via Del Oro, Via Pasatiempo, Via Carlos, Via De Luna, Via Lagunaria and El Apajo. It names Rancho Niguel Master Community Association as its master, one of thirteen that do.
