How Estrella Vista was built
Estrella Vista means star view, and it went up in the early 1990s on the upper part of the Plano Trabuco. The mission connection here is not decorative. The Trabuco Adobe was built on this plain in 1810 as an outpost of Mission San Juan Capistrano, which had been founded in 1776. Its roof tiles were stripped in the early 1920s and carried back to San Juan Capistrano to help restore the mission.
The street names run straight down the mission chain. San Gabriel, La Purisima, Buenaventura and Obispo are all California missions, Calle Serra carries the name of Junipero Serra, who founded the chain, and there is a Mission Street to make the point. Via Torre and Via Tranquila fill in the quieter corners. It is a single family neighborhood of a bit under two hundred homes on forty one acres, named for the sky and laid out on the memory of the missions.
