How Las Rosas was built
Las Rosas is the late, large end of Rancho Santa Margarita. The homes went up between 2000 and 2002, a decade and a half after the first houses in the city, and they are big: four and five bedroom houses of 3,300 to 3,500 square feet behind a gate, where the villages built in the late 1980s were mostly attached homes under 1,500.
Its street names break the city's Spanish habit halfway. Corte Las Rosas and Via Villario keep to it, but Teaberry Lane, Arbor Walk Lane and Garden View Court are plain English and read like an English garden rather than a Spanish one. The mixture is itself a marker of when it was built, after the market had moved on from the theme the rest of the city was named under.
