How Tustin Field II was built
Tustin Field II's streets are a navigator's list: Polaris, Orion, Meridian, Celestial Point, Sun Dial, Galileo, Halley, Loran, Voyager, and Aviator Lane South running through them. Loran was the long range radio navigation system developed during the Second World War, which is a pointed thing to name a street after on an old naval air station.
The City of Tustin records Tustin Field II as 189 single family detached homes at the southwest corner of Edinger and Harvard, with 40 of them, about a fifth, sold at prices affordable to very low, low and moderate income households. The houses date from 2005 and 2006, and Wikipedia puts the completion of both Tustin Field phases in 2006. The Los Angeles Times identified the project in 2006 as the first installment of John Laing Homes' Tustin Legacy development on the former Marine base.
