Overview
About Canyon Villas
Canyon Villas covers 18 acres addressed off Pacific Park Drive, the only street name the city's address layer records inside the boundary. The city counts 346 addresses across 62 mapped parcels and 345 of them carry a unit designator, which is the pattern of attached homes held over shared lots rather than one lot to a door. That is the seventh largest address count of the fifty Aliso Viejo communities on this site, at 19 addresses to the acre against a Residential High Density ceiling of 30 units to the gross acre.
Foxborough Park is 418 feet from the boundary, seven acres with a sports field, hiking trails, walkways, picnic benches and barbecues. Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park begins 659 feet away, Woodfield Park at 22.9 acres is 666 feet off with a lighted baseball field and a concession stand, and Springdale Park at 5.8 acres is 1,525 feet. Capistrano Unified's own address locator assigns this ground to Wood Canyon Elementary for TK through grade 5, then Don Juan Avila Middle and Aliso Niguel High.

How Canyon Villas was built
Canyon Villas sits on Pacific Park Drive, and that road is the spine of the idea Aliso Viejo was built to test. The master plan the county approved in 1979 counted the jobs the new city would create against the workforce it would house and tried to balance the two, the first planned community in California to do it. Pacific Park was the business district that carried the bet, about 900 acres laid out to hold more than 22,000 jobs, with every home in the city inside a mile and a half of it.
The community holds 346 addresses on 18 acres, almost all of them unit numbers behind a single address on that one street, which is the shape of a rental community rather than a subdivision. Aliso Viejo incorporated on 1 July 2001 as Orange County's thirty fourth city, on a 93.3 percent yes vote, with more than 40,000 people already living in it.
