How Vista Plaza was built
Two streets, Cottonwood Drive and Woodcrest Lane, and 199 addresses on 14.9 acres. Vista Plaza was built in 1995, one to three bedroom homes of 682 to 1,765 square feet, sitting just south of the 73 Toll Road beside Canyon View Park, with mountain and city light views from the higher ground.
By 1995 Aliso Viejo had been building for thirteen years without being a city. The county approved the master plan in 1979, the first homes were offered for sale in March 1982, and the first residents moved in that November. The community stayed unincorporated until 1 July 2001, when it became Orange County's thirty fourth city on a 93.3 percent yes vote with more than 40,000 people already living in it.
