Overview
About Windsong
Windsong covers 16.4 acres and the city's address layer records 275 addresses inside it, across seventeen mapped parcels. Thirteen streets run within that footprint, and only five of the fifty Aliso Viejo communities on this site carry more. Every one of them names a wind or something a wind does: Mariah, Mistral, Silverwind, Softwind, Southwind, Tradewinds, Westerly, Willow Wind, Windchime, Windgate, Windridge, Windrose and Windswept. The city zones the whole 16.4 acres Residential Medium Density, where the municipal code allows up to 18 units to the gross acre.
At 17 addresses to the acre the measured density is the eighth highest here. Crestview Park is 726 feet from the boundary at 4.6 acres, Creekside Park 1,186 feet at 18.3 acres with a sports field, hiking trails and walkways, and Aliso Viejo Ranch Park, a city park of seven acres, 1,542 feet. Capistrano Unified's own address locator assigns this ground to Oak Grove Elementary for TK through grade 5, then Aliso Viejo Middle and Aliso Niguel High.

How Windsong was built
Thirteen streets and every one of them is wind: Mariah, Mistral, Silverwind, Softwind, Southwind, Tradewinds, Westerly, Willow Wind, Windchime, Windgate, Windridge, Windrose and Windswept. Mistral is the one with a real place behind it, the cold northwesterly that runs down the Rhone valley and out into the Gulf of Lion, named from the Occitan of Languedoc for masterly, blowing at about thirty miles an hour and often reaching sixty.
Windsong was built between 1990 and 1994 and holds 275 homes on 16.4 acres on the north side of the 73 Toll Road near Crestview Park. The county had approved the Aliso Viejo master plan in 1979 and the first homes in the city sold in March 1982, so this is second wave building.
