About Founder's Village Senior Condominiums
Founder's Village Senior Condominiums holds 55 separately assessed condominium homes on 3.76 acres off Bushard Street. The four interior streets are named for the American founding, with Independence carrying 16 addresses, Revere 15, Liberty 14 and Unity 10. The assessor records two bedrooms on 27 of the assessed homes and three on 27, with a median building area of 1,514 square feet.
The city's landscape survey maps two swimming pools inside the boundary. The whole site is designated Specific Plan in the general plan, so density here is set by the plan adopted for the site rather than by a citywide range, and FEMA places all of it in Zone X as an area with reduced flood risk due to levee. Fountain Valley School District assigns the address range to Tamura Elementary and Fulton Middle, and Huntington Beach Union High School District's boundary map puts it inside Fountain Valley High.

How Founder's Village Senior Condominiums was built
The four street names give the theme away at once: Independence, Liberty, Revere and Unity. The city's own housing office lists this as Liberty at Founder's Village, built in 2004 for residents 55 and older and held affordable to low and moderate income households for 55 years, with the city itself checking that every buyer qualifies. There are 55 homes on not quite four acres off Bushard Street, most of them three bedrooms, with two pools.
The founders in the name are the city's own. Fountain Valley was the farm village of Talbert until 1957, when 189 registered voters were on the rolls and the town voted to incorporate. The first mayor was James Kanno, a Nisei engineer who had graduated from UCLA in 1949 after his family was sent from their asparagus farm to the Poston camp in Arizona during the war. He was one of the first Japanese American mayors in the mainland United States, and the election was written up as far away as Voice of America.
