How St Laurent was built
The houses were built between 1995 and 1997, in the middle of the Newport Ridge program, after the 1988 agreement that preserved more than 6,000 acres of continuous open space and released 1,600 acres for development. The San Joaquin Hills toll road opened in November 1996, right in the middle of construction, with an exit at Newport Coast Drive.
Newport Ridge was named from France and this neighborhood keeps to it, but with a lighter touch than its neighbors. Lyon, which carries most of the addresses, is France's second city and the country's kitchen. Bellevue means beautiful view and is used all over France for exactly the kind of site this is. Dorian is a given name rather than a place, and Saint Laurent, the association's own name, is one of the commonest church dedications in France.
