Four interior points were tested against the Capistrano Unified locator and all four returned the same three campuses. Harold Ambuehl Elementary takes TK through fifth grade with 324 students, 53 percent meeting the state standard in English language arts and 59 percent in mathematics, and it feeds Marco Forster Middle, which enrolls 930. San Juan Hills High School enrolls 2,641 and graduated 96.2 percent of its class. The Fire Hazard Severity Zone layer places 35.0 acres of the boundary in the Very High class, the most demanding rating the layer carries, so defensible space and construction requirements apply across effectively the whole park.

How El Nido was built
El Nido means the nest, and in San Juan Capistrano that is never a neutral word. The cliff swallows come back from Argentina around 19 March each year and build their mud nests in the ruins of the Great Stone Church, and a 1939 NBC radio broadcast of their return carried the town to a national audience and made it a destination. The birds stopped coming between 2009 and 2017, after their mud nests were taken down during a restoration of the church, and the mission used recorded swallow calls and artificial nests to bring them back.
The park stands on the east side of a town that incorporated on 19 April 1961, and it carries a single address, Ortega Highway. The road is named for Sergeant Jose Francisco Ortega, who led the scouts of the 1769 Portola expedition, the first non natives to see this valley. It still runs east from the freeway beside San Juan Creek and on through Caspers Wilderness Park and the Cleveland National Forest into Riverside County.
