How Hawks Pointe was built
When Hawks Pointe was first proposed the 87 acre site was not in Fullerton at all: it sat in unincorporated Orange County. Only about half the ground was ever zoned for housing, and the rest was left as slope and open space, wildlife habitat and public park. The houses were built by Centex Homes and sold through 2002 and 2003.
The street names are all borrowed from the country the tract was cut into rather than from anywhere else: Wilderness, Rimrock, Sage View, Sagewind, Timberlyn Trail, Eagle Pointe and Muir Trail, that last one for John Muir, the Scottish born naturalist whose campaigning created Yosemite National Park. Highlander and Cumberland are the two that look back to Scotland and the English border instead.
