            Mission Woods

32.26 acres on the bank of San Juan Creek, 81 homes, Arroyo Park inside the boundary and a lot the 1978 map set aside for historical purposes.

            Overview

            About Mission Woods

Mission Woods covers 32.26 acres along San Juan Creek and the city's address layer records 81 addresses inside it on five named streets: Paseo Barona, Paseo Duran, Paseo Esteban, Via Cuartel and Via Parra. None of the 0.74 miles of street inside the boundary appears on the city's Private Roads layer, because the recorded map dedicated all of them along with Calle Arroyo and Ortega Highway, and the register records the association as self managed. Almost a quarter of the ground is public open space: 4.8 acres are zoned Community Park District, 2.7 acres Open Space Recreation and 0.8 acres General Open Space, and the city's property layer holds Arroyo Park at 2.72 acres, 4.8 acres of open space along San Juan Creek and 0.79 acres of creek bed inside the boundary.

The head of the Arroyo Park Trail sits inside the boundary along 0.32 miles of city trail, and 0.59 acres of the boundary is creek. Four interior points were tested against the Capistrano Unified locator and all four returned the same three campuses: Harold Ambuehl Elementary for TK through fifth grade with 324 students, Marco Forster Middle at 930, and San Juan Hills High School at 2,641, which graduated 96.2 percent of its class. The federal flood layer places 5.5 acres of the boundary in Zone AE and the fire layer places 27.9 acres in the Non-Wildland Fuel class.

            History

            How Mission Woods was built

Mission Woods sits just off Ortega Highway and was built between 1979 and 1980 as Tract 7673, which the city still serves with a landscape maintenance district assessed to the owners. Its streets are Via Cuartel for the barracks, Via Parra for the vine, Paseo Barona, Paseo Duran and Paseo Esteban.

Ortega Highway is the oldest thing about the address. Orange County and Riverside County built it between 1929 and 1933, and they could only do it together after Joint Highway District 15 was created to let two counties build one road.
